I have been at the helm of ‘Women for Women against Violence - Camomilla Award’ for years, which combines stories of rebirth, examples of strength and resilience, about the two main killers of women: breast cancer and gender-based violence.
Valentina Pitzalis, Antonietta Tuccillo, Carolina Marconi, Rosanna Banfi, Nicolò Maja and many others have told their personal stories to give a warning and help to all women personally involved!
I am ambassador of ‘The Wall of Dolls’ Italy, a permanent installation inspired by an ancient Indian tradition: every time a woman is victim of violence, a doll is posted on the door of her house.
Anyone can go to the ‘Wall’ and post their doll, thus testifying their support for the fight against violence against women.
The aim of both initiatives is to raise awareness and contribute to a profound cultural change.
Concretely, every day, we help women who have experienced, or are experiencing, violence and abuse, and women who are struggling with psychophysical recovery from cancer. We provide support to ‘special orphans’, children of victims of feminicide, to help them on the difficult journey they must face.
It is crucial to raise awareness and educate boys and girls to respect others because they will be the men and women of the future.
