Ines and Giulio Pivetta
My name is Giulio Pivetta, my family consisted of me, my wife Ines, our eldest daughter Stefania, and Mirko with his son Alessio, the youngest. My daughter Stefania was married to Alessandro Maja. They had two wonderful children, Nicolò and Giulia, at the time of the events, 23 and 16 years old, respectively. Nicolò has received his high school diploma from an aeronautical institute and his private pilot's license from the Varese Aeroclub, while Giulia was in her second year of scientific high school in Gallarate.
A family we could define as normal and with a good economic level. Alessandro worked independently as a surveyor and interior designer, and Stefania was a housewife.
Unfortunately, for this lovely family, in May 2022, what none of us would have ever imagined happened... it was halved with the death of Stefania, 57, and Giulia, just 16, killed by the hand of their husband and father. Nicolò, on the other hand, seriously injured, was taken to the hospital in Varese in critical condition. Admitted to intensive care, it was an ordeal for him: a month in a coma, several head operations, and after waking up from the coma, he was born for the second time. For four months, we shuttled between Cassano Magnago and the hospital in Varese. Dr. Motta, the head of the department, provided us with updates on Nicolò's condition during the night and day. We must thank the Varese hospital team who saved Nicolò's life, we are infinitely grateful to them. After his discharge in September 2022, Nicolò, left alone, came to live in our house in Cassano Magnago. From that moment, our life changed radically, our goal was his future. He remained in a wheelchair for about another year, and during this period, we had to be close to him because he needed everything. Later, little by little, thanks to rehabilitation at Somma Lombardo hospital, he made giant strides, and today he walks independently. We are always present for anything he needs (friends say we are his shadow, even if the sun is missing).
Nicolò also undertook private treatments, with a psychologist and physiotherapist, and has achieved what he has today. He strongly wanted a job and a driver's license, and these dreams came true. I would have many other things to say, but I'll stop here... however, I must still say that during this period of convalescence, Nicolò receives a phone call from an unknown number, who could it be? On the other end of the phone, a woman's voice answers, she introduces herself, "I'm Donatella Gimigliano from Rome."
Our salvation
From all of us, Thenk you Donatella
